Zifcak: Closing the Chasm: The Case for a Human Rights Act

Spencer Zifcak is Associate Professor of Law at La Trobe University and the principal author of the New Matilda draft Australian Human Rights Act. In this contribution he argues that the need for such an Act to protect our fundamental rights and freedoms is without doubt more acute now than at any time since this country went through an eerily similar ‘war on communism’ more than fifty years ago.
