Murdoch University School of Law and SCALES Community Legal Centre presents: Do we need a Human Rights in Australia?
The Federal Government is currently undertaking a national consultation regarding the promotion, protection and realisation of human rights in Australia. As part of this process it is considering enacting a National Human Rights Act.
Here in WA we have already considered these questions through our own consultation on need for a similar act at a State level, but opinion is still divided and the question still not settled.
You are invited you to consider these issues and hear them explored when Attorney Generals both past and present the Hon Jim McGinty (MLA) and the Hon Christian Porter (MLA) debate the question:
Thursday 2nd April 2009
